Tre Cime di Lavaredo

The Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Drei Zinnen in German, are three dolomite peaks in the Sexten Dolomites on the border between South Tyrol and the province of Belluno: Cima Piccola (2,857 m), Cima Grande (2,999 m) and Cima Ovest (2,973 m). The north face of Cima Grande ranks among the great north faces of the Alps. The front line ran through here in the First World War, and positions and trenches can still be seen. The Dolomites have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009.

From Misurina, a toll road of about 6 to 7 km climbs to Rifugio Auronzo at just over 2,300 m, where cars and motorhomes can park. It is open roughly from late May to October, and driving up requires an online booking with a time slot (as of October 2026). The loop of about 10 km around the peaks via the Lavaredo and Locatelli huts takes three to four hours and is easy to moderate; from the Locatelli you look straight at the north faces. Autumn is quieter than high summer.
