Jackson Town Square
Jackson, WY
The town park of Jackson, framed by four arches made of shed elk antlers and wooden boardwalks. Walk the surrounding blocks of shops and galleries; parking is easiest a few streets away.
Jackson’s Town Square is officially George Washington Memorial Park. It was dedicated as a park in 1934, and a stone memorial honoring local veterans stands in the middle. The four arches of elk antlers at the corners are famous: the first was built in 1953 by the local Rotary Club, and the others followed by the end of the 1960s.
The antlers come from the nearby National Elk Refuge, where the animals shed them in spring. Because bone weathers, the arches were rebuilt between 2006 and 2015. Restaurants, shops and galleries line the square, and a walk around takes a little under an hour. Parking is usually easiest a few blocks away.
