The Pink Granite Coast in Brittany stretches for more than 30 km from Plestin-les-Grèves to Louannec. Around Ploumanac'h and Perros-Guirec, wind, rain and salt shape the pink granite rocks; according to the tourist office, erosion has been at work for about 300 million years. The Sentier des Douaniers (Customs Officers' Path), part of the GR 34, is marked in red and white and leads from Trestraou past the Mean Ruz lighthouse, a granite structure built after the Second World War, to Saint-Guirec beach with its 12th-century oratory.
The path is about 9 km there and back and is considered easy; allow around 2.5 hours, or up to 4 with photo stops. Walking poles need rubber tips, and dogs must be kept on a lead. The light is loveliest in the morning or evening, when it is also quieter. There are overflow car parks nearby, and in summer a free shuttle runs (as of October 2026).
