Bahia Honda State Park Campground

Big Pine Key, FL

Camping

Beachfront Keys camping with some of the clearest water in Florida. Book up to 11 months ahead.

Bahia Honda State Park lies near Big Pine Key, just over 30 miles (about 50 km) northeast of Key West. Its history is tied to Henry Flagler's railroad to Key West in the early 20th century, and the old Bahia Honda railroad bridge is still a landmark. The park offers beaches, snorkeling, kayaking, birdwatching and a marina with a boat ramp.

There are about 80 campsites in three camping areas. Buttonwood (sites 1–48) takes tents and larger RVs, while Sandspur (49–72) accepts only vehicles up to about 23 feet (7 m). Bayside (73–80) is primitive, with a vehicle height limit of 6 feet 8 inches (about 2 m). Florida residents can reserve 11 months ahead, everyone else 10 months (as of October 2026). When it is very busy, the park may temporarily close its day-use areas; on weekends, arrive early. There is little shade on the beaches.
