Two Medicine Lake
East Glacier Park, MT
The quieter southeast valley of Glacier National Park, with a tour boat, a campground and the short walk to Running Eagle Falls.
Two Medicine lies north of East Glacier and is considered the quieter southeast corner of Glacier National Park. At Two Medicine Lake you will find a historic general store, a boat ramp and tours on the historic wooden boat Sinopah; morning departures are said to offer the best light and calm water. A campground is located in the area.
About 4.5 miles (roughly 7 km) beyond the turnoff from Highway 49 you reach Running Eagle Falls, also called Trick Falls. The short, wheelchair-accessible trail is about 0.3 miles (0.5 km) long. During snowmelt the water pours over the upper tier; in late summer it flows mainly through the lower one, hence the name. The falls are named after the Blackfeet warrior Running Eagle. Plan half a day for the falls and the lake; it can get crowded in summer.
