Naquane National Park, near Capo di Ponte in Valcamonica, protects 104 rocks with engravings. They date from the Neolithic to the Iron Age and show, among other things, hunting scenes, villages, carts and ritual figures. The park was established in 1955 as Italy's first archaeological park; in 1979 the rock art of Valcamonica became Italy's first UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Five marked trails, about 3 km in total, lead through the woods. Depending on your interest, you need one to four hours. Park in Capo di Ponte; from there it is about a 10 to 20 minute walk to the entrance. It is best to check opening hours and closing days on the park's website beforehand.
