Mine Bay Māori Rock Carvings

A large carving of Ngātoroirangi, the navigator of the Te Arawa canoe, cut into a cliff on the western shore of Lake Taupō in 1976–79. It can be reached only by boat or kayak. Several operators sail from Taupō harbour, and trips run in the morning or at sunset.
