Carnac alignments

Some 3,000 Neolithic standing stones set in long rows across the heath. In summer the fields are fenced and visited on guided tours; in winter parts are open to walk freely.
The Carnac alignments consist of more than 3,000 standing stones arranged in three fields: Ménec, Kermario and Kerlescan. They stretch for almost 4 km and were erected between the 5th and 3rd millennia BC, which makes them about 6,000 years old. In July 2025 the Megaliths of Carnac and the Shores of Morbihan were inscribed as a World Heritage Site. The Maison des Mégalithes is the starting point for guided tours and an introduction to the site.
From April to September you may enter the stone rows only on a guided tour (for a fee); from October to March you can walk freely among them (as of October 2026). Stay on the marked paths and do not climb on the stones, which are considered fragile. Allow one to two hours for a visit; in summer it is advisable to arrive early.
