Porto Katsiki

A beach beneath white cliffs on the south-west coast of Lefkada, with turquoise water. Steps lead down from the car park at the road end; arrive early in summer.
The beach lies on the south-west coast of Lefkada, around 35 to 40 km from the island's main town, at the foot of pale cliffs. The name means "goat harbour": in the past, only goats are said to have been able to reach this stretch of coast. The beach is pebbly and the water clear; the sea turns choppy in wind, though, and water shoes are a good idea.
From Athani it is about 8 km along a winding road. From the pay car park at the top of the cliff, around 100 steps lead down to the beach, so the climb back is tiring. In summer the car park is full by late morning, so come early; it is much quieter in May, early June and September. There are cafés at the top and, in summer, sunbeds and snacks on the beach, but according to visitor reports no toilets. Excursion boats, for example from Nidri, usually anchor off the beach in high season. Camping is prohibited and there is no accommodation on site.
