Jánošíkove diery

The Jánošíkove diery lie in the Rozsutec National Nature Reserve within Malá Fatra National Park. The series of gorges consists of Dolné diery, Nové diery and Horné diery, with more than 20 waterfalls of roughly 1 to 4 m each, shaped by the Dierový stream. The route runs over wooden walkways, ladders and chains. A one-way system applies in the Nové diery section. The short educational trail (about 2 hours) suits families, the big loop takes around 4 hours, and the variant including a summit up to 6 hours.

Starting points are the car park by the Hotel Diery in Terchová–Biely Potok or the Štefanová car park. The upper gorge is impassable in winter and in heavy rain. The regional tourist board recommends coming on weekdays, as weekends are often very busy. The trail up Veľký Rozsutec is closed every year from 1 March to 15 June for nature protection (as of October 2026); the gorges themselves remain accessible during this period.
