Alcantara Gorges
Motta Camastra, Italy
A narrow gorge where the river has cut through an old lava flow and exposed walls of basalt columns. The water is very cold. A municipal stairway of about 200 steps from the SS185 leads down to the riverbed for a small fee, usually from spring to autumn.
